Shamanur Shivashankarappa, Karnataka’s oldest MLA and veteran Congress leader, died at 94.
He represented the Davanagere South Assembly constituency.
He was the National president of Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha.
He remained active in politics for around five decades.
He was elected six times as an MLA since 1994 and once to the Lok Sabha.
He was also a former minister and industrialist.
His son, S S Mallikarjun, is a Minister in the state Cabinet.
