Veteran actor, director, producer, and screenwriter Sreenivasan passed away in Kochi, Kerala, at the age of 69.
He was born on April 6, 1956, in Patyam near Thalassery in the Kannur district of Kerala.
He acted in more than 225 films and wrote several landmark screenplays over a career spanning nearly five decades.
He received the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues for directing the film Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala.
He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film for Vadakkunokkiyanthram and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Popular Film for Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala.
He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Screenplay for the films Sandesam and Mazhayethum Munpe.
He received a total of one National Film Award, two Filmfare Awards South, and six Kerala State Film Awards during his career.
He made his acting debut in Manimuzhakkam in 1976 and played his first lead role in Sanghaganam in 1979.
He had undergone heart surgery in 2022 and was undergoing dialysis at a private hospital in Kochi before his passing.
