Make in India steel bridge completed for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project

Key facts

• A 100 m long 'Make in India' steel bridge has been completed over the underground metro tunnel in Ahmedabad district for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.
• This is the 13th steel bridge completed in Gujarat out of 17 planned for the project in the state.
• The bridge weighs 1098 metric tons, measures 14 m in height and 15.5 m in width, and is located parallel to the Ahmedabad Sabarmati main line of Western Railways.
• Fabricated in Wardha, Maharashtra, the bridge was assembled at 16.5 m height using about 45,186 Tor-Shear Type High Strength bolts and coated with the C5 system protective paint.
