Punjab Dog Sanctuary inaugurated to curb dog bites and provide stray care

• Punjab’s first ‘Dog Sanctuary’ inaugurated at Haibowal Dairy Complex, Ludhiana with capacity to house around 500 dogs.
• Sanctuary launched as pilot project to reduce dog bite incidents and ensure medical care, shelter and treatment for stray dogs.
• Local Government Minister Sanjeev Arora stated more such sanctuaries will be set up across Punjab based on its success.
• Sanctuary will follow Supreme Court guidelines on stray dog management and welfare.
