Saab showcases RBS-15 Gungnir missile capabilities against Russian S-400 components on January 14, 2026

• Swedish aerospace and defence company, Saab (Saab), has showcased the capabilities of its RBS-15 missile to destroy the componenets Russian S-400 system.
• RBS15 Gungnir, utilising the RBS15 Mk4 anti-ship missile (RBS15), is a highly optimised anti-ship missile with land attack capability, designed to give the forces an edge in increasingly complex conflict scenarios.
• The RBS15 can integrate with aircraft, ships and trucks to provide a complete system solution, including the JAS 39 Gripen (Gripen) fighter jet and Visby-class corvette.
• A Gripen-launched missile destroyed a target identified as a Russian 91N6 surveillance and tracking radar—the backbone of the S-400 'Triumf', which is a 3D radar with a claimed detection range of up to 600 km.
• The promotional video also demonstrated that one of the launchers from a Russian surface-to-air missile system is also destroyed and the naval target, meanwhile, was the Chinese Type 052D destroyers.
• The RBS15 has evolved since 1984, and the Swedish defence ministry previously ordered the RBS-15 Mk4 Gungnir in 2017.
