Kerala Cabinet approves Kerala Nativity Card Bill to certify state residency

• The Kerala Cabinet approved the Kerala Nativity Card Bill to issue a formal card as an authorised document to certify a person as a Keralite.
• A native is defined as a person born in Kerala or whose parent or ancestor was born in Kerala, provided they have not acquired foreign citizenship.
• Persons born outside Kerala due to employment or livelihood-related reasons of their parents are also treated as natives if they do not hold foreign citizenship.
• Tahsildars will issue the card, and the Village Office will maintain a nativity card register to track the issued documents.
• The District Collector is empowered to review, modify, or cancel orders passed by the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) regarding card applications.
• The Cabinet decided to establish new fire stations at Mavoor, Neriamangalam, Cheemeni, and Rajakkad, creating 18 posts for the Mavoor station.
• Specific posts sanctioned for the new stations include Assistant Station Officers (ASTO), Senior Fire and Rescue Officers, and Fire and Rescue Officers (Driver).
• The Cabinet approved the creation of 20 Police Constable Driver posts and two Assistant Professor posts in the Department of Forensic Science at Calicut University.
• The Forest Department will supply up to 5,000 metric tonnes of bamboo free of cost annually to the Kerala State Bamboo Corporation from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2030.
