• Vir Vikram Yadav, a 1996-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment as part of a broader bureaucratic reshuffle.
• Yadav will assume the role in the rank and pay of an additional secretary to the Government of India.
• He succeeds Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, a 1996-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, who has been appointed as additional secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
• Yadav currently serves as additional secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and has been based in New Delhi since April 2025.
• He holds an M.Tech in Building Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and has experience in infrastructure and environmental governance across state and central governments.
