India returned to the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia after seven years, having last participated in 2019.
The national pavilion, titled “Geographies of Distance: remembering home”, was presented by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre and Serendipity Arts.
The exhibition is hosted at the Arsenale venue in Venice and is scheduled to run from May 9 to November 22.
Curated by Amin Jaffer, the exhibition features works by artists Alwar Balasubramaniam (Not Just for Us), Ranjani Shettar (Under the same sky), Sumakshi Singh (Permanent Address), Skarma Sonam Tashi (Echoes of Home), and Asim Waqif (Chaal).
A performance programme curated by Serendipity Arts will be held across Venice, inspired by the theme In Minor Keys.
