The Ministry of Power (MoP) revised the "Make in India" procurement norms for the power sector via an official order dated April 30.
The MoP introduced a phased roadmap to achieve a minimum of 60 per cent local content in High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) substations of the LCC type.
The revised roadmap applies to HVDC substations under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) or turnkey project category.
The changes fall under the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) framework, which provides purchase preference linked with local content in the power sector.
The phased local content targets are 30% until 31.03.2028, 40% from 01.04.2028 to 31.03.2030, 50% from 01.04.2030 to 31.03.2032, and 60% from 01.04.2032 to 31.03.2035.
