• The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data for 2024 reveals that Delhi recorded 2,905 suicides, the highest among 53 Indian cities.
• Bengaluru reported the second-highest number of suicides at 2,403 with a rate of 16.7 per lakh population, while Mumbai recorded 1,406 cases.
• Married individuals constituted the largest demographic among suicide victims in Delhi, accounting for 1,616 cases or more than 55.6% of the total.
• Delhi recorded the highest number of crimes against children among metropolitan cities with 7,662 cases, including 5,404 incidents of kidnapping and abduction.
• Under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Delhi registered 1,553 cases in 2024, followed by Mumbai with 1,416 and Bengaluru with 594.
