Aadhaar App crosses 31 million downloads

Key facts

• The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) stated that the Aadhaar App has recorded over 31 million downloads since its launch less than five months ago.
• The app enables Aadhaar Number Holders (ANH) to perform mobile number updates and address updates directly from their smartphones.
• Approximately 4 million people have updated their mobile numbers and around 850,000 people have updated their addresses using the app.
• Key features include biometric lock/unlock, face verification for proof of presence, authentication history, a QR-based editable contact card, e-Aadhaar downloads, and online appointment booking for Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs).
• The app supports use cases including hotel check-ins via Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) QR code scanning, hospital admissions, visitor management, event entries, and identity verification of gig workers and service partners.
