The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, facilitated the first export consignment of one metric tonne of GI-tagged Tezpur litchi to Dubai.
Tezpur litchi (Litchi chinensis) is grown in the Sonitpur district of Assam.
Apart from the Dubai shipment, 500 kg of Tezpur litchi will be shipped to Singapore.
100 specially packaged boxes of premium Tezpur litchis will be dispatched to the Prime Minister’s office.
The initiative aims to provide farmers with better prices and create new opportunities for agricultural products from Northeast India.
