Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: Redevelopment of 450 Railway Stations

Key facts

• Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated a 20-kW FM transmitter at Ramgarh in Rajasthan.
• The transmitter is part of a government initiative to provide comprehensive communication coverage across the border belt of the country, stretching from Kashmir to Rajasthan.
• The railway budget for border regions has increased 15-fold since 2014 compared to the ₹682 crore allocated under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
• Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, work is approaching completion at nearly 200 of the 450 identified railway stations.
• The station redevelopment programme focuses on stations of all sizes, including Jaipur Junction, Jaipur Gandhinagar, Jaisalmer, Alwar, Kota, and Ajmer.
