Atal Asra Yojana: Goa Government Provides Up to ₹3 Lakh for Tribal Housing

Key facts

• The Goa government implemented the Atal Asra Yojana to provide financial assistance for the construction, reconstruction, and repair of houses for Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.
• The scheme offers two slabs of assistance: ₹3,00,000 for building a new house or completely reconstructing an existing one, and ₹1,50,000 for repairing an existing house.
• To be eligible, the applicant must belong to a Scheduled Tribe (ST) community of Goa and the total annual family income must not exceed ₹3,00,000.
• The application process is entirely offline and requires submission at the Department of Tribal Welfare (DTW) office located at Shram Shakti Bhavan, Panaji.
• Required documents include an affidavit, house tax receipt, income certificate, ST certificate, passbook copy, photograph of the existing house, Aadhaar card, ration card, mandate form, and sanction order under Jawahar Awas Yojana (JAY) or Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) if previously availed.
• Technical requirements include a detailed cost estimate from a professional registered under the Public Works Department (PWD) or Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), along with land ownership documents or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and a construction licence for new builds.
