Key facts

The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) released a mother sanction of ₹10,021.42 crore to 12 states under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
The 12 recipient states are Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.
Launched in 2016, PMAY-G aims to replace kutcha houses with pucca homes and has been extended until March 2029 to achieve the 'Housing for All' target.
Against an overall target of 4.95 crore houses, approvals for 3.91 crore houses have been granted and construction of more than 3.05 crore houses has been completed.
Nearly 75 per cent of the sanctioned houses under PMAY-G are registered in the name of women or under joint ownership.
