- The Ministry of Coal (MoC) is providing ₹1,350 crore support under its coal gasification incentive scheme for the Lakhanpur coal-to-ammonium nitrate project.
- The government has approved coal gasification incentive schemes with a cumulative outlay of up to ₹46,000 crore to promote surface coal and lignite gasification projects.
- The project is being developed by Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL), a joint venture between Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Coal India Limited (CIL).
- The project will produce 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate per day using indigenously developed coal gasification technology from BHEL.
