Seven endangered Golden Langurs were released back into the wild in Assam after being rescued from an international wildlife trafficking network.
The Golden Langur is classified as a Schedule-I species under the Wildlife Protection Act and is listed among the world's most endangered primates.
The primates were reintroduced into the Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park, which is situated across the Chirang and Kokrajhar districts in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park covers an area of over 316 square kilometres and forms a part of the Manas Biosphere Reserve.
The animals were originally recovered during an anti-trafficking operation conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police in the Chirang district.
