IN-SPACe Invites Expressions of Interest for Transfer of Technology of LVM-3 to Private Sector

Key facts

• The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has invited expressions of interest (EoI) for the transfer of technology (ToT) of the LVM-3 launch vehicle to the private sector.
• LVM-3, previously known as GSLV-Mk3, is India's heaviest operational rocket and a heavy-lift launcher capable of placing satellites into geostationary transfer orbit and low Earth orbit.
• The LVM-3 successfully launched 72 satellites for the UK-based OneWeb constellation across two missions in 2022 and 2023.
• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will provide infrastructural and hand-holding support for a period of 42 months or until the realisation and launch of two LVM-3 vehicles by the selected party, whichever is earlier.
• IN-SPACe has issued an EoI for the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), while the transfer of technology for the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) was completed last year.
