India hosts 13th BRICS Urbanisation Forum in New Delhi on 11 June 2026

• The 13th BRICS Urbanisation Forum was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on 11 June 2026 at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi.
• The forum was hosted under India's BRICS Chairship in 2026 with the theme ‘Cities for People: BRICS Cooperation for Inclusive and Resilient Urban Futures.’
• Participating nations included Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
• India hosted the forum for the fourth time, following previous editions held in New Delhi (2013), Visakhapatnam (2016), and virtually (2021).
• The publication ‘India’s Urban Transformation: Stories of Change’ was released during the inaugural session to present urban practices from India's states and Union Territories.
• India and the Russian Federation held a bilateral meeting to expedite the finalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sustainable Urban Development.
