The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Lucknow was upgraded to a Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) to cater to the meteorological needs of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Uttarakhand.
India's Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) infrastructure expanded from 17 in 2014 to 50 at present, with 50 more proposed under Mission Mausam over the next two years.
Uttar Pradesh (UP) currently has three operational DWRs, compared to one in 2014, with six additional radars being commissioned.
In UP, Automatic Weather Stations increased from 59 to 107, Automatic Rain Gauges from 132 to 140, and lightning sensors from zero to seven.
Weather services are being provided at 11 airports across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
