Kerala Revised Budget 2026-27: Mission Samudra and Oommen Chandy Health Insurance Scheme Announced

• Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan presented the Kerala Revised Budget for 2026–27, introducing Mission Samudra with an allocation of ₹400 crore to transform the state into a global maritime hub.
• The Oommen Chandy Health Insurance Scheme was announced with an initial allocation of ₹10 crore, providing medical support worth ₹25 lakh per family.
• The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for rubber was increased to ₹250, while the agriculture sector received a total outlay of ₹1,534.98 crore.
• A record allocation of ₹5,952 crore was made for road renovation, alongside the establishment of a Road Architecture Wing to enhance infrastructure standards.
• The budget earmarked ₹1,578 crore for the transport sector and ₹325 crore for tourism, with plans to grant industry status to the tourism sector.
• To address human-wildlife conflict, ₹192.20 crore was allocated for technological advancements and the deployment of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs).
• The Kerala Knowledge Valley project was launched with ₹100 crore to establish high-ranking educational institutions and curb student out-migration.
• A ₹50-crore initiative was announced for Generation-Z (Gen-Z) to boost startups, innovation hubs, and smart industries.
