Maharashtra-Google MoU for free AI and digital training of over 4 lakh teachers

Key facts

• The Maharashtra School Education department signed a memorandum of understanding with Google for Education to provide free AI and digital technology training to more than four lakh teachers in government-run and aided schools.
• The letter of intent was signed in the presence of School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse at Mantralaya.
• Selected master trainers will undergo training and then train teachers across the state, aiming to reach every school.
• The entire training programme will be provided free of cost by Google with no financial burden on the state government, and the Maharashtra government will retain control over the process.
• The initiative will focus on enhancing AI literacy and digital skills, provide localised training content in Marathi, Hindi and English, and promote the use of Google's AI tools for educational purposes.
