Ministry of External Affairs Revises Passport Service Charges Effective July 1, 2026

• The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced a significant increase in passport service charges for both regular and Tatkaal applications, effective from July 1, 2026.
• For adult applicants in India, the fee for a fresh or reissue 36-page passport will rise from ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 under the normal category and from ₹3,500 to ₹5,000 under the Tatkaal category.
• The fee for a 60-page passport for adults in India will increase to ₹3,500 for normal processing and ₹6,000 for Tatkaal services.
• Minor applicants below 18 years of age will see the normal fee for a 36-page passport increase from ₹1,000 to ₹1,750, while the Tatkaal fee will rise to ₹4,250.
• Replacement fees for lost or damaged 36-page passports for adults will increase to ₹5,000 (Normal) and ₹7,500 (Tatkaal), while 60-page replacements will cost ₹6,000 (Normal) and ₹8,500 (Tatkaal).
• The fee for issuing a 36-page replacement of a lost or damaged passport for a minor will increase to ₹4,250 for normal processing and ₹6,750 for Tatkaal services.
• Charges for miscellaneous services, including Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), Surrender Certificate, and Global Entry Programme verification, will increase from ₹500 to ₹750.
• A 10% discount on passport fees for fresh applications is available for children below 8 years of age and senior citizens above 60 years of age.
• For Indian citizens applying from abroad, a fresh 36-page passport will cost $125 (Normal) and $250 (Tatkaal), while a 60-page passport will cost $175 (Normal) and $300 (Tatkaal).
• The fee for a Certificate of Identity is set at ₹1,000 in India and $50 for applications from abroad, while an Emergency Certificate abroad will cost $15.
