PM Modi holds bilateral meetings with Canada and UK at G7 Summit in France

• The G7 Summit was held in Evian-les-Bains, France, on June 16, 2026, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral meetings with UK PM Keir Starmer and Canadian PM Mark Carney.
• During the meeting with UK PM Starmer, PM Modi reviewed progress in India-UK relations and discussed collaboration in trade, investment, technology, defence and people-to-people exchanges.
• In the meeting with Canadian PM Carney, both leaders signalled intent to accelerate negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with a target to conclude by the G20 Summit.
• Canadian PM Carney set a target to double bilateral trade with India by the end of the decade.
• Earlier, Carney visited India from 27 February to 2 March, during which agreements were finalised on supply of uranium and critical minerals, and commitment to expand cooperation in defence, critical technologies, small modular nuclear reactors, education and renewable energy.
