• The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a flagship rooftop solar scheme aimed at enhancing energy self-reliance and supporting the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.
• The government has set a target to bring solar power to 1 crore homes, with 40,21,346 households already benefitting and over 68 lakh applications received.
• Subsidies amounting to ₹22,446 crore have been released under the programme, with households installing a 3KW rooftop solar system eligible for subsidies up to ₹78,000.
• The scheme is expected to create over 17 lakh jobs across the solar value chain, supported by training initiatives such as Suryamitra.
• The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is scheduled to close on 31 March 2027.
