Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority awards container terminal project to JSW Infrastructure under DBFOT model

Key facts

• JSW Infrastructure has secured a Letter of Award (LOA) from Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (SPMPA) for integrated development of Outer Container Terminal and Berths 1–5 at Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD), Kolkata Dock System.
• The project will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.
• The container handling capacity is ~0.93 Million TEUs and the cargo handling capacity is ~13 Million Tonnes Per Annum.
• The concession period for the project is 30 years.
• After completion of this project and earlier reconstruction of Berth 8 and mechanisation of Berths 7 and 8, JSW Infrastructure's container handling capacity at Kolkata port system is expected to rise to approximately 1.4 million TEUs.
