Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill will be tabled in the upcoming monsoon session of the state Assembly.
A six-member high-level committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prasad Desai was constituted in April 2026 to prepare the draft UCC bill.
The committee has been tasked with studying the UCC models adopted in BJP-ruled states including Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Assam.
