Union Cabinet clears Office and Housing Projects in Amaravati worth Rs 2,534 Crore

Key facts

• The Union Cabinet approved the construction of a Central Government General Pool Office Accommodation (CGGPOA) complex and a General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) campus in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
• The total investment for the two infrastructure projects is estimated at Rs 2,534 crore, with the CGGPOA costing Rs 1,299 crore and the GPRA campus costing Rs 1,234.91 crore.
• The CGGPOA complex will be developed on a 5.53-acre site with a built-up area of 23.25 lakh sq ft to house central government departments and public sector undertakings.
• The GPRA campus, the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, will feature 11 residential towers with 1,504 dwelling units across Type-II to Type-VI categories on a 17-acre plot.
• The residential project aims to achieve a minimum 4-star Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) and comply with the Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC).
