United States clears $482.2 million support package for India's Apache helicopters and M777A2 howitzers on June 17, 2026

• The United States (US) notified the sale of sustainment support services and related equipment for Apache helicopters and M777A2 Ultra-Light Howitzers to India at an estimated cost of $482.2 million.
• The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) issued the arms sales notification under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme on June 17.
• Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin are the principal contractors for the Apache support deal, while BAE Systems will handle the M777A2 howitzer support.
• India previously purchased 28 AH-64E Apache helicopters from the US in two separate deals worth $2.2 billion for the Indian Air Force (IAF) and $930 million for the Indian Army.
• The Indian Army operates 145 M777A2 howitzers acquired under a $737 million contract through the FMS programme, with 120 units assembled domestically in partnership with Mahindra Defence Systems.
