Ahmedabad Sets Guinness World Record for Planting 3.61 Lakh Trees in One Hour

Key facts

• The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) set a Guinness World Record by planting 3.61 lakh saplings in one hour.
• The plantation drive was conducted at Bhadaj in the Thaltej Ward using the Japanese Miyawaki afforestation method.
• The achievement surpassed the previous record of 3,31,929 trees planted in one hour by the Assam Forest Department under the Amrit Brikshya Andolan on September 15, 2023.
• The drive covered a total area of nearly 91,006 square metres, with dense Miyawaki forests developed across approximately 76,000 square metres.
• Around 35 indigenous tree species suited to the local ecosystem were planted during the event.
• Over 25,000 volunteers participated, including AMC officials, BAPS volunteers, CREDAI members, police personnel, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, school students, NGOs, educational institutions, social organisations, and citizens.
• This marks the fifth Guinness World Record for Ahmedabad in three years, including the longest flower structure (2024), world's largest flower bouquet (2025), world's largest flower mandala (2026), and world's largest flower portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (2026).
