Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: ₹140 Crore Redevelopment of Jaisalmer Railway Station

• The Jaisalmer Railway Station in Rajasthan has been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at an estimated cost of ₹140 crore.
• The project was implemented by the North Western Railway (NWR).
• The new main station building is a G+2 structure covering approximately 8,327 square metres and is constructed using golden-yellow sandstone.
• Passenger amenities include 10 lifts, 10 escalators, two six-metre-wide foot overbridges, an air concourse, modern waiting halls, an expanded circulating area, organised parking facilities, and disabled-friendly infrastructure.
• Modern platform shelters covering more than 10,000 square metres have been installed across three platforms.
• The station includes a 480-square-metre commercial area with outsourced assets comprising kiosks, retiring rooms, dormitories, a waiting lounge, a multipurpose hall, vehicle parking, a rail coach restaurant, and catering stalls.
• The redevelopment is expected to generate approximately ₹50 lakh in annual non-fare revenue for the railways.
• Security has been strengthened with the installation of 219 CCTV cameras supervised by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
