Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog.
He was serving as the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh prior to this appointment.
His tenure as CEO of NITI Aayog is for a period of two years.
He succeeded B V R Subrahmanyam, whose extended term as CEO ended on February 24, 2026.
Nidhi Chhibber, a 1994-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, was serving as the interim CEO of NITI Aayog before Jain's appointment.
Jain has previously served as Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Secretary of Road Transport and Highways.
He also served as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) from 2011 to 2015.
He holds a B.Tech Honours in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and an MA in Public Administration from Maxwell School, USA.
