Key facts

The International Booker Prize will be renamed the Bukhman International Booker Prize from 2027 following a 10-year funding commitment from Bukhman Philanthropies.
The prize money for winners will be doubled to £100,000 (approximately Rs 1.28 crores), split evenly between the author and the translator.
Shortlisted books will be awarded £5,000 (approximately Rs 6.37 lakh), which will be split evenly between the author and the translator or translators.
The 2027 judging panel will be chaired by Katie Kitamura and include Patrick McGuinness, Caleb Azumah Nelson, Olga Ravn, and Tessa Thompson.
Eligible works for the 2027 prize must be long-form fiction or short story collections translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland between May 1, 2026, and April 30, 2027.
