Delhi EV Policy 2026: ₹15,000 Crore Outlay for Green Mobility

Key facts

• The Delhi Cabinet approved the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026 with an outlay of ₹15,000 crore to be invested over the next four years starting from July 1.
• The policy targets 95 per cent of all new vehicle registrations in Delhi to be electric by 2027, with a goal to make the city pollution-free by March 31, 2030.
• Registration mandates specify that only electric autorickshaws will be registered from January 1, 2027, and only electric two-wheelers from April 1, 2028.
• Financial incentives include a 100 per cent road tax and registration fee exemption for electric cars with an ex-showroom price of ₹30 lakh or less, a ₹1 lakh scrapping incentive for BS-IV four-wheelers or below, and a purchase incentive of up to ₹1 lakh for N1 category electric trucks.
• Tiered purchase subsidies for electric two-wheelers are ₹30,000, ₹20,000, and ₹10,000 for the first, second, and third years respectively, while electric three-wheelers will receive ₹50,000, ₹40,000, and ₹30,000.
