Delhi Semiconductor Policy: Aimed at Investment and Employment

Key facts

• The Delhi government is drafting the Delhi Semiconductor Policy to position the capital as a hub for semiconductor design, advanced research and development, and assembly and allied activities.
• The policy is aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
• The policy is structured around five key pillars: semiconductor design and intellectual property development; research, development and innovation; manufacturing-enabling activities including Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) along with ancillary industries; talent development and skilling; and strengthening of the startup and industrial ecosystem.
• The framework envisages financial and non-financial incentives, capital subsidies, and infrastructure development to promote ease of doing business and attract private investment.
• The policy aims to generate high-quality job opportunities in the fields of chip design, semiconductor research, and advanced packaging.
