e-OCI Card and FCRA 2.0 Portal: Digital Governance for Diaspora and NGO Compliance

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the e-OCI (Electronic Overseas Citizens of India) card in New Delhi for over 50 lakh holders.
• The e-OCI card allows the entire process of application, document submission, and card download to be completed online via the OCI Services Portal.
• The new system eliminates the mandatory OCI booklet reissuance for cardholders receiving a new passport after the age of 20, requiring only an online update of passport details.
• The FCRA 2.0 Portal was launched as an upgraded compliance platform for organisations under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), serving nearly 14,500 active registered organisations.
• The FCRA 2.0 Portal incorporates Aadhaar-based authentication, e-Sign, and OCR-based document analysis, integrating with databases including PAN, Aadhaar, OCI, and NGO Darpan.
