Government Allocates Record ₹95,692 Crore for Rural Employment Under VB-G RAM G Act, 2025

Key facts

• The government allocated ₹95,692 crore for rural employment under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025.
• This allocation is the highest ever made at the budget estimate stage for any rural employment programme in the country.
• The VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 guarantees 125 days of wage employment per financial year to every willing rural household, an increase from the 100 days under the erstwhile MGNREGS.
• The scope of permissible works under the Act has been expanded to include water security, core rural infrastructure, livelihood infrastructure, and mitigation of extreme weather events.
• The Act promotes convergence with other central and state government programmes through a whole-of-government approach.
• The announcement was made by Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
