Kerala Cabinet Clears Five Governance Reforms

Key facts

• The Kerala Cabinet approved a five-point administrative reforms programme led by the General Administration Department.
• A Special Asset Management Platform will be developed as a registry of all government assets, including buildings, roads, and vehicles.
• Plan Space 2.0 portal will be created as a GIS-based register of all capital projects, with geotagging and tracking of location, funding, and implementation stages.
• The government will integrate similar government institutions and create a comprehensive registry of 591 institutions, which have a salary outgo of approximately ₹19,000 crore.
• Outdated, unnecessary, and contradictory laws will be reviewed and amended to ease project implementation.
• A process re-engineering programme will be implemented to simplify procedures and modernise Acts and Rules for ease of doing business.
• An Empowered Committee of government secretaries will be created for prioritisation of projects and inter-departmental coordination.
