Samudra Pradakshina: India’s First Tri-Service All-Women Sailing Expedition Creates History

• Samudra Pradakshina, India's first Tri-Service all-women sailing expedition, completed a 314-day circumnavigation covering 25,500 nautical miles.
• The expedition was conducted by nine women officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force on the indigenously built Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni.
• The crew crossed four oceans, the Equator twice, the International Date Line, and rounded the three Great Capes (Cape Leeuwin, Cape Horn, Cape of Good Hope), including the Drake Passage.
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off the expedition on September 11, 2025, and virtually flagged in the crew on July 22, 2026.
• Senior military leaders including Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani, Naval Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth, and Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit attended the flag-in ceremony.
• Military delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and South Africa also attended the ceremony.
• The expedition showcased Nari Shakti, Tri-Service jointness, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and served as a mission of military diplomacy during port visits.
