Telangana to host eighth edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2026

Key facts

• Telangana will host the eighth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2026 in November, as announced by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, in a press release by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
• At least 8,000 athletes, officials, and support staff are expected to participate in the Telangana edition.
• In the KIYG 2025 edition hosted by Bihar in May 2025, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Rajasthan finished first, second, and third respectively.
• The KIYG 2025 edition featured 28 sports, with medals awarded in 27 sports, e-sports as a demonstration event, and 26 records created, consisting of 13 national youth records in weightlifting and 13 meet records in athletics.
• In the KIYG 2024 edition hosted by Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra finished first and Tamil Nadu finished second.
