TribeX Platform Launched to Promote India's Tribal Heritage and Digital Learning

Key facts

• The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) launched TribeX, a digital learning platform designed to preserve and promote India's tribal heritage through online education.
• Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram unveiled the platform on 8 July 2026 during the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
• The platform offers 20 free certificate courses covering tribal paintings, handicrafts, handloom traditions, artefacts, and traditional musical instruments.
• MoTA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, to introduce five University Grants Commission (UGC) recognised one-year hybrid postgraduate diploma programmes.
• The five diploma programmes comprise Santali (Ol Chiki) language, Sustainable Tribal Culture-Based Livelihood Practices, Museology and Tribal Museum Management, Tribal Arts and Crafts of India, and Tribal Textiles.
• The platform features a Heritage Archive with over 5,000 multimedia resources documenting tribal festivals and oral traditions, which is expected to expand to 10,000 resources.
