- Over 12.71 lakh cyber fraud complaints were recorded across India between January 1 and June 30, 2026, with reported fraudulent transactions exceeding Rs 10,178 crore.
- Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of complaints at 1.85 lakh, followed by Maharashtra (1.58 lakh) and Karnataka (1.21 lakh).
- Maharashtra reported the highest financial loss at Rs 1,637.66 crore, followed by Karnataka (Rs 1,097.37 crore) and Tamil Nadu (Rs 897.79 crore).
- Of the total 12.71 lakh complaints, 2.86 lakh were forwarded for banking action, and 2.70 lakh were taken up by banks under the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System.
- Between 2021 and May 2026, total cybercrime losses reported stood at Rs 64,447 crore, of which Rs 10,718 crore was frozen as lien and only Rs 323 crore refunded to victims.
