CISF, DFI Sign MoU to Enhance Counter-Drone Capabilities

Key facts

• The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Drone Federation of India (DFI) signed an agreement on 28 August 2026 to strengthen drone and anti-drone capabilities.
• The MoU aims to develop CISF's Recruit Training Centre (RTC) in Behror into a comprehensive Centre of Excellence for Drone and Counter-Drone Systems, following Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.
• DFI will facilitate structured engagements with Indian drone start-ups and technology companies for capacity building, applied research, and operational preparedness.
• The collaboration covers scaling counter-drone deployments, developing indigenous forensic tools, organising red-teaming exercises and joint drills, and designing training modules.
• CISF secures over 370 units in India, including aviation, nuclear installations, space centres, and oil refineries.
• Over 3,000 CISF personnel have been trained in drone and anti-drone protocols, and approximately 80 CISF units actively use drones for monitoring, threat detection, and training.
• The agreement was signed by CD Naik on behalf of CISF and Smit Shah, President of DFI, in the presence of Director General CISF Praveer Ranjan.
