Indian Coast Guard Receives ICGS Ajit Fast Patrol Vessel on 25 August 2026

• Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) handed over the 51.43-metre fast patrol vessel ICGS Ajit to the Indian Coast Guard on 25 August 2026.
• The vessel, designated Yard 1277, was formally handed over after the First Reading Ceremony.
• ICGS Ajit is a 330-tonne vessel with a beam of 8 metres, a draught of 2.5 metres, and more than 65 percent indigenous content.
• It is powered by twin marine diesel engines coupled with controllable pitch propellers, a first-of-its-kind feature in this class of fast patrol vessels.
• The vessel can achieve a top speed of over 27 knots and has an endurance of 1,500 nautical miles.
• It will be operated by a crew of six officers and 35 sailors.
• Its operational roles include fisheries protection, exclusive economic zone surveillance, coastal patrolling, anti-smuggling and anti-piracy operations, and search and rescue missions.
