The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare launched the National Scholarship Portal-Direct Benefit Transfer (NSP-DBT) system for agriculture students.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the initiative at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), Pusa.
Over 6,000 agriculture students received a combined ₹21.35 crore through the NSP-DBT mechanism.
The system provides scholarship and fellowship assistance directly to students' bank accounts on a monthly basis through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The initiative aims to make scholarship distribution faster, more transparent, and seamless, reducing delays.
Chouhan also appealed to agriculture students to undertake plantation drives at ICAR institutions on Hariyali Amavasya.
