Pawan Hans Limited signs MoU with Norway's Noemi Aerospace to explore electric seaplane technologies

• Pawan Hans Limited signed a non-binding MoU with Norway-based Noemi Aerospace on 5 August 2026 in New Delhi to explore electric seaplane technologies and sustainable aviation cooperation.
• The MoU covers collaboration in electric seaplane technologies, skill development, capacity building, technical knowledge sharing, workshops and feasibility studies.
• Noemi Aerospace is developing a nine-passenger electric seaplane with zero emissions and 50 per cent lower operating costs than conventional aircraft.
• Noemi Aerospace, formerly known as Elfly, targets commercial service by 2030 and is building its first full-scale prototype at Torp Sandefjord Airport in Norway.
• Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said the government aims to manufacture seaplanes domestically under the Make in India initiative.
• The Union Budget 2026 proposed incentives for indigenous manufacturing and a Viability Gap Funding scheme to support seaplane operations in India.
• The government has introduced Seaplane Operations Guidelines and conducted demonstration flights over the past two years to promote seaplane services in remote and coastal regions.
