Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced a 'historic hike' in special incentives for paddy and sugarcane farmers.
For paddy, the government will offer an incentive of ₹289 per quintal for fine varieties and ₹159 per quintal for common variety, in addition to the minimum support price (MSP).
The total price for fine paddy will be ₹2,750 per quintal and ₹2,600 per quintal for common variety.
Paddy procurement will begin in September.
For sugarcane, the special incentive is ₹709.50 per tonne, in addition to the Union government's ₹3,290.50 per tonne, making the total price ₹4,000 per tonne.
The incentive for sugarcane increased by ₹360.50 in the first year of the government.
