The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved the 'Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yojana' on August 25, 2026.
The scheme provides lifetime free travel to women aged 60 and above residing in Uttar Pradesh on all public buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC).
Eligible women can avail the free travel facility by presenting a valid government identity proof such as a Voter ID card or identity card.
Over 1 crore women in Uttar Pradesh are set to benefit from the scheme, which covers all 14,244 buses in the state fleet.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet also approved a ₹400 crore proposal to procure 250 new electric buses.
