• The Ministry of Civil Aviation launched Hub & Spoke International Flight Operations from Ahmedabad on 01 September 2026.
• Ahmedabad became the third spoke airport under India's International Aviation Hub Strategy, after Varanasi and Amritsar.
• Under the model, passengers complete check-in, immigration and customs at Ahmedabad, with baggage transferred seamlessly to final destinations.
• Flight AI 1117 connects passengers to 22 destinations across Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, while AI 1121 extends connectivity to 17 destinations across North America, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia and Europe.
• The initiative aims to position India as a preferred aviation hub by 2030 and a leading global aviation hub by 2047.
• The Ministry estimates that aviation hub development could generate 0.4 million jobs and contribute USD 30 billion to India's GDP by 2030.
• Hub & Spoke connectivity will next be extended to 22 more airports, including Surat in Gujarat.
