Compliance Reduction and Deregulation Initiative: Tripura completes all Phase I and II Priority Areas

Key facts

• Tripura is the first state in India to complete all 51 Priority Areas under Phase-I and Phase-II of the Compliance Reduction and Deregulation initiative led by the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of India.
• Launched in January 2026, the reform programme covers sectors including Revenue, Urban Development, Industries, Labour, Environment, Tourism, Health, Education, and Digital Governance.
• Key administrative reforms include the strengthening of the Single Window Approval Agency (SWAAT), self-certification for Change of Land Use, and the removal of dual licensing requirements.
• Digital governance initiatives include the launch of a centralised e-Gazette system, an auto-appeal mechanism under the Right to Services framework, and the SWAGAAT Single Window System.
• The state collaborated with the National Law University Tripura (NLU Tripura) for law reviews and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) for a ground-level impact assessment of Phase-I.
